Generally, the sootblower piping system includes various valves, equipment, instrumentation, pipe works, and accessories from the steam supply source to each sootblower and through the drain valves. Due to various boilers of types, capacities, and the number of sootblowers; the sootblower piping system could be either very simple or fairly complex.
For small industrial boilers with only 2 or 3 sets of sootblowers, the piping system will only consist of one manual shut off valve, several pipe lines and one drain valve. Whereas, a more complicated piping system for large size boilers, usually consists of a manual shut off valve, automatic shut off valve, pressure reduction station, a large amount of pipe and fittings, fasteners and supporting devices, all many types of instrumentation, multiple drain valves, auxiliary steam supply pipes, check valves, etc.
