MAC™ DRY BOTTOM ASH SYSTEM
The patented MAC™ (Magaldi Ash Cooler) Dry Bottom Ash System is a unique system for dry extraction, cooling and handling of bottom ash from pulverized coal-fired boilers. It eliminates water usage in the cooling and conveying of bottom ash. With the MAC™ system, operational and maintenance costs are significantly less compared to the conventional wet systems. SUBMERGED CHAIN CONVEYOR (SCC) SYSTEM
The Allen-Sherman-Hoff® Submerged Chain Conveyor (SCC) System easily and efficiently handles bottom ash, mill rejects and economizer ash for immediate transport or disposal.
The SCC System receives hot ash, slag and clinkers falling from the boiler, through a transition chute to the water-filled trough. The transition chute provides an air-tight seal between the boiler and conveyor. Ash is conveyed up the conveyor incline for dewatering providing an end product ready for sale or disposal. There is a removable back panel on dry-side return for ease of inspection and maintenance without emptying or moving the unit. This roll-out design provides easy access to the boiler throat.
HYDROBIN®CLOSED-LOOP RECIRCULATION SYSTEM
To support sites where the collection of bottom ash requires strict environmental regulations, Allen-Sherman-Hoff recommends our Hydrobin® Closed-Loop Recirculation System design. This allows your plant to conserve water and meet the regulations that prohibit the discharge of ash into our natural resources. A-S-H's unique system design includes water recirculation in the system to support a cleaner environment.
The key components of the A-S-H Closed-Loop Recirculation System include the hopper to collect the ash, the bottom ash gate housing to control material flow into the grinder, the PowerASH® single-roll grinder or double-roll grinder to properly size the material, the Hydro-ejector® jet pumps to quickly move the water and solid granular material through the pipeline, the Hydrobin® dewatering bin to dewater the ash for disposal, the settling tank to receive the drained water and further remove fines, the surge tank to store the clarified water and pumps to return the water to the system. This type of system produces relatively dry ash for transport.
HYDRAULIC BOTTOM ASH SYSTEM
Allen-Sherman-Hoff® designs safe and cost efficient Bottom Ash Systems for the collection of material generated by the boiler. The initial phase of bottom ash collection begins with material falling from the boiler into water-impounded hoppers installed directly under the boiler. Analyzing the boiler, fuel and your plant configuration, Allen-Sherman-Hoff® designs the right system for the proper removal of your bottom ash material.
The key components of the A-S-H Hydraulic Bottom Ash System include the hopper to collect the ash, the bottom ash gate housing to control material flow into the grinder, the PowerASH® single-roll grinder or double-roll grinder to properly size the material, the Hydro-ejector® jet pumps to quickly move the water and solid granular material through the pipeline and the HYDROBIN® dewatering bins to dewater the ash for transport.
MILL REJECTS HANDLING SYSTEM
Allen-Sherman-Hoff® offers unique system designs for facilities that want to cleanly and efficiently remove the coarse, heavy pieces of stone, slate and iron pyrites discharged from the unit's coal pulverizer. Our system typically conveys the mill rejects at 5 to 10 tph through hardened pipe from mill hoppers to the termination point. Material is conveyed to our environmentally safe hydraulic system and produces relatively dry ash for transport.
Key components of this type of system are the mill rejects storage tank to store material from a coal pulverizer, Hydro-ejector® jet pumps to quickly move the water and solid granular material through the pipeline, and ASHCOLITE® pipe and fittings to meet the distance requirements at your plant. The system can be integrated into your Bottom Ash System or designed as a stand-alone Mill Rejects Handling System.
