Diamond Power’s IK-WL waterlance is designed for use on furnace wall surfaces where slag deposits are not removed by steam or air supplied wall sootblowers. When steam or air provides inadequate cleaning benefit, waterlances like the IK-WL have proven to be very effective in safely restoring near bare metal surface conditions in high slagging boilwer, thereby reducing or eliminating the adverse side effects caused by furnace slag. We also have applied this technology in units burning heavy oils and successfully tested on units burning Orimulsion to remove the reflective furnace deposits that these fuels produce.
The IK-WL travel and rotational speeds are precisely controlled during the cleaning cycle to maintain a uniform jet progression velocity throughout the cleaning area. Water is only used on forward travel since testing has proven that nearly 100% cleaning effectiveness is achieved under these conditions, without a serious degradation of tube life.
